Spring Break 2025 Update
April 15th- We had a long, but awesome day. We were filming a promotional video (be on the lookout for this in May), so we crammed in as much footage as we could! We were able to get Liam out onto the New River on a chilly, windy, drizzle-spitter of a morning. Few fish were caught, but Liam did surprise us all by hauling in a monster walleye! Incredible!
We warmed up with Patrick’s smoked chili lunch at a fantastic spot overlooking the river where we spotted some giant carp, but couldn’t get them on the hook. After lunch, the weather broke and the Lord gave us a gorgeous afternoon on a jaw-droppingly beautiful private trout stream. Everybody waded in and everybody caught a few 20+ inch rainbow trout. A long ride home led to naps for the folks in the back while Patrick and Josh dreamed of what might be on the horizon for Mended.
April 17th- We could not ask for a better day to be out on the river, the weather was 65 and sunny nearly all day. We took De’jour in an ambitious search for striped bass on the New River. The day started out so hopeful, before we got in the boats we spotted a couple from shore as their massive backs broke the surface. We jumped in, pushed off, and fished hard but in the end only landed a few good sized smallmouth bass. De’jour perfected his Trolli worm toss to Carter and Josh nearly relieved himself right on an angry, nesting (and well camouflaged) mama goose. So, while we did not find the stripers we set sought, we did receive the gift of a very pleasant day and much joy with Du’jour.
